TC 3-39.30 is a quick reference guide for military police leaders who support Army forces across the range of military operations. It is based on the foundations that are established in FM 3-39 and supports the emphasis on simultaneous offense, defense, and stability or defense support of civil authorities. The manual is also based on an extensive survey of military police leaders that was conducted by the United States (U.S.) Army Military Police School. The manual describes the capabilities and organization of the military police, demonstrates the flexibility and diversity of military police in adapting to any mission, and characterizes the military police as a combat force multiplier.

The principal audience for TC 3-39.30 is military police leaders and Soldiers who are tasked with planning, directing, and executing military police operations at company level and below. Trainers and educators throughout the Army will also use this publication.

TC 3-39.30 applies to Active Army, Army National Guard/Army National Guard of the United States, and United States Army Reserve unless otherwise stated.

The primary focus of TC 3-39.30 is military police operations at the company level and below. The manual provides an overview of fundamental guidelines and is a quick reference guide to help commanders, leaders, and Soldiers successfully execute key military police missions.

TC 3-39.30 is a significant revision from its predecessor, FM 3-19.4 (now obsolete).

Each of the appendixes addresses specific subjects that provide the military police leader with quick reference information that is pertinent to its specific title. While significant information is presented within each chapter or appendix, there are also references to other publications to benefit the military police leader who needs additional, detailed information that is beyond the scope of this manual.

TC 3-39.30 covers the following information:

  • Chapter 1 addresses military police support to unified land operations and the application of military police capabilities.
  • Chapter 2 provides an overview of military police company or platoon organizations, missions, capabilities, and dependencies and key military police personnel duties and responsibilities.
