The mission of USSOCOM is to provide fully capable SOF to plan and conduct Special Operations (SO) in worldwide support of U.S. policy and objectives. To that end, USSOCOM components employs a dynamic, capabilities-focused training strategy based upon the CJCS Joint Training System, ensuring SOF operators will continue to master the individual and collective war fighting skills that enable operational and tactical success in all combat environments.

For the purposes of this manual, a SOF JTAC is an individual JTAC trained in 4 additional SOF - specific tasks required to successfully conduct joint fires in support of USSOCOM’s Core Activities and operations. (See qualification tables).

All SOF JTAC operations and training conducted under the cognizance of USSOCOM is conducted IAW this manual and procedures established in the Joint Publication (JP) 3-09 Joint Fire Support, JP 3-09.3 Close Air Support and Service manuals and/or instructions. All Component SOF JTAC publications will ensure alignment with this publication and the current Joint Fire Support Executive Steering Committee (JFS ESC) Action Plan (AP) Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) 2004-01 JTAC (Ground).

This book is a "mini" (7 1/4 inches high by 5 1/2 inches wide) size - A popular size to carry anywhere (briefcase, large pocket, purse) but the print is large enough for easy reading.  Binding is coil - allow for easy turning of pages.  You can lay it flat on a table without the book lumping up.
