Summary. This publication provides information on medical fitness standards for induction, enlistment, appointment, retention, and related policies and procedures.

1–1. Purpose

This regulation governs—

1. Medical fitness standards for enlistment, induction, and appointment, including officer procurement programs.
2. Medical fitness standards for retention and separation, including retirement.
3. Medical fitness standards for diving, Special Forces, Airborne, Ranger, free fall parachute training and duty, and certain enlisted military occupational specialties (MOSs) and officer assignments.
4. Medical standards and policies for aviation.
5. Physical profiles.
6. Medical examinations and periodic health assessments.

This book is a "mini" (half the size of a regular piece of paper) size - A popular size to carry anywhere (briefcase, large pocket, purse) but the print is large enough for easy reading. Coil binding is used to allow for easy page flipping with no binding.
