ATP 3-39.32 provides doctrinal guidance for personnel responsible for planning and executing physical security programs. It is the basic reference for training security personnel, and it is intended to be used in conjunction with the AR 190 series, security engineering unified facilities criteria publications, Department of Defense (DOD) directives, and other Department of the Army publications. This publication establishes physical  security as a supporting component of the protection warfighting function and describes defensive measures that enable protection tasks (operations security, antiterrorism, area security, survivability, and information protection).

The principal audience for ATP 3-39.32 is commanders and staff elements at all echelons and military police personnel tasked with planning, directing, and implementing physical security measures. Educators will use this manual for training throughout the Army.

ATP 3-39.32 applies to Active Army, Army National Guard/Army National Guard of the United States, andU.S. Army Reserve unless otherwise stated.
